Born in 1945 in Salvador – Bahia, he´s part of ageneration of great political and economic changes in Brazil, incorporating them into his personal and professional life path to the present day.
The decision to embrace architecture came ever since the school banks of secondary education in the Maristas School, when he decided, doubtless, to incorporate the ruler and compass with buzzing creativity.
He graduated in 1969 from the College of Architecture of the Federal University of Bahia, after international student experiences in ´62 and ´63 as a high school student in Tennessee and in university courses in 1969 at the Harvard University and at the New York University in the United States, when he acquired the necessary savvy to develop broader and more comparative reasoning for the balance of future decisions in his professional life. In 1975, after six years in private practice of the profession,he decided to begin a partnership with his secondary school classmate Francisco Mota and start an office called ANDRÉ SÁ AND FRANCISCO MOTA ARCHITECTS -AFA begining a lasting partnership sharing the modernist vision of architecture influenced by great masters in Brazil led by Oscar Niemeyer, Sergio Bernardes, Vilanova Artigas and at the essence of other international samples of the BAUHAUS movement led by Walter Gropius, and Le Corbusier, Alvar Aalto, Frank Lloyd Wright and other modernists of the time.
Working within the broad spectrum of architecture residential, business, commercial and hotel, began incurred in the urban planning in full, idealized Master Plans within urban areas and tourist incorporating leisure and entertainment as one of the pillars of human society from embracing and the beginning of the principles necessary for the development sustainable. In 1974, sharing the work of the Shopping Center Iguatemi Bahia, the second in the country, started with knowledge of this large urban equipment new in Brazil, that through these years reflect fully in the commercial segment activity developed by the AFA, having developed projects architecture of more than 60 shopping centers in 12 states in Brazil and internationally responsible for implementation of the first shopping center in Angola, Belas Shopping in Luanda.
In the area of real estate tourism development, found in the Northeast market eager for a proposed development of master plans to occupy the atent demand for new destinations. Partnerships and international consultants as EDSA, RTKL, WATG, and among other TCG, enriched knowledge of this new trend by incorporating the model-hotel resorts, translated into Coast Sauipe, the largest tourist complex in South America, opened in 2000, currently reaching more than 5,000 hectares of planned areas.
